Dear Brothers and Sisters!
6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
The BIBLE – 2. John 1:6;
Once again, light and darkness clash violently. Those who have become disciples of JESUS walk in love. Our love for CHRIST is shown by our adherence to His WORD and our walking according to His commandments. As disciples of JESUS, it becomes our heartfelt desire to take His commandments to heart and to love Him, CHRIST, and our neighbor.
However, extreme caution is advised when dealing with false teachers! 7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess that JESUS CHRIST has come in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist. (2 John 1:7) A few days ago, John already issued a strong warning about the antichrist and his deceivers. Today he does so again. Anyone who claims that GOD did not become human in JESUS is a liar and preaches a false gospel.
8 Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. (2. John 1:8) GOD exhorts us to steadfastness in the faith. Paul adds to this: 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: if anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse! (Galatians 1:8.9) GOD chooses such clear words because nothing less than our eternal salvation is at stake. Faith in JESUS CHRIST determines eternal life in GOD's glory or eternal life in eternal lostness and separation from GOD. 9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son (2. John 1:9) and becomes a joint heir with the saints and a member of GOD's household.
What do you think about these verses? They are verses that encounter fierce resistance in many people, because today everyone wants to find salvation in their own way. The possibility of a TRUTH revealed by GOD himself is categorically denied. Yet, proof that one's own truth and conviction are correct is lacking. Ultimately, according to GOD's WORD, only disorientation and hopelessness remain because one does not know JESUS, who is the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE personified, or has rejected his invitation to follow Him.
What about you and your profession of faith? Either you are a disciple of JESUS and live and proclaim the TRUTH, or you are a slave to Satan and his Antichrist and still live in the darkness of lies and the prospect of eternal damnation. On my knees, I thank GOD that I have been able to recognize the TRUTH in our LORD JESUS. He bestows the magnificent certainty that our lives will not ultimately end in the dead end of death and eternal separation from GOD. Praise the LORD!
