РОД и ПЕРЕВОДНа севере диком стоит одиноко
На голой вершине сосна,
И дремлет, качаясь, и снегом сыпучим
Одета, как ризой, она.
И снится ей все, что в пустыне далекой,
В том крае, где солнца восход,
Одна и грустна на утесе горючем
Прекрасная пальма растет.
Ein Fichtenbaum steht einsam
Im Norden auf kahler Höh';
Ihn schläfert; mit weißer Decke
Umhüllen ihn Eis und Schnee.
Er träumt von einer Palme,
Die, fern im Morgenland,
Einsam und schweigend trauert
Auf brennender Felsenwand.
На севере мрачном, на дикой скале
Кедр одинокий под снегом белеет,
И сладко заснул он в инистой мгле,
И сон его вьюга лелеет.
Про юную пальму все снится ему,
Что в дальных пределах Востока,
Под пламенным небом, на знойном холму
Стоит и цветет, одинока...
A pine tree standeth lonely
In the North on an upland bare;
It standeth whitely shrouded
With snow, and sleepeth there.
It dreameth of a Palm tree
Which far in the East alone,
In the mournful silence standeth
On its ridge of burning stone.

Swathe him in folds of white.

Far in the sunrise-land,
