Detained Palestinian pediatrician Dr. Hussam Abu Safia continues to face severe physical abuse and systemic torture at the hands of Israeli occupation guards, according to testimonies delivered to his legal representatives and highlighted by Physicians for Human Rights Israel.
Dr. Safia, the former medical director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, has been arbitrarily held without charge since his abduction by occupation forces in December 2024.
In recent legal visits, his defense team revealed that guards routinely subject him to violent beatings across his body using hands, boots, and batons, specifically targeting sensitive areas.
Beyond physical violence, the prominent doctor has been subjected to psychological warfare, including deliberate sleep deprivation tactics via constant nighttime noise and announcements blared through the prison's public address system.
According to human rights advocates, the relentless brutality aims to break the physician, who was viciously targeted after refusing to abandon his patients during the destruction of northern Gaza's medical infrastructure.
