#OTD 1️⃣3️⃣0️⃣ years ago, on August 27, outstanding Soviet theatre and film actress Faina Ranevskaya was born in Taganrog.
Over the course of her long career, Ranevskaya played around 30 film roles, including in “The Foundling”, “Dream”, “The Wedding”, “Heavenly Slug”, “Springtime” and “Cinderella”. At the same time, she remained one of the most prominent theatre actresses of her generation, performing on the stages of Moscow’s leading theatres.
In 1961, Ranevskaya was awarded the title of People’s Artist of the USSR. Her talent, artistry, distinctive sense of humour and memorable aphorisms made her one of the most recognisable and beloved figures in Russian culture.#Russia
