The Northern Sea Route (NSR) is a 5,600-kilometer (3,500-mile) shipping lane along Russia’s Arctic coast from the Barents Sea to the Bering Strait. It cuts the distance between East Asia and Northern Europe by up to 40% compared to the Suez Canal, saving 10 to 14 days of travel time.
