Dear Brothers and Sisters!
41 He took her by the hand and said to her, ‘Talitha koum!’ (which means ‘Little girl, I say to you, get up!’). 42 Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished.
The BIBLE – Mark 5:41.42;
What more can be said about these two verses, which speak volumes in their simplicity and clarity? What had happened? Jairus' daughter was dying. Jairus, the leader of the synagogue, had rushed to JESUS and asked Him for help. On the way home, he was told that his daughter had already died. He didn't need to bother the Master, that is, JESUS, any further.
But now the story took a unique turn. From a human perspective, all hope was lost. The girl was dead. Not so for our LORD JESUS. The hour of greatest sorrow and despair became JESUS' triumph over death. Together with the disciples who were with Him and the girl's parents, He entered the room of the deceased. He drove everyone else out. He took the girl by the hand and spoke only two words: ‘Talitha koum!’ And the girl opened her eyes, stood up, walked around, and JESUS placed her in her parents' arms.
The joy and amazement at JESUS' power must have been boundless. It happened by the authority of the HOLY SPIRIT. None other than the CREATOR of heaven and earth had raised the child to new life. It happened as a demonstration of JESUS' power over hell, death, and the devil. There is no power in the world that could stand in the way of Him, CHRIST, not even death. Death had to surrender to JESUS. When we become disciples of JESUS, we follow the LORD of lords and GOD of gods, none other than the almighty, all-knowing, omnipresent, eternal GOD.
JESUS had not only raised Jairus' daughter to new life at that time, but He also did so with the widow of Nain's son and with His friend Lazarus. Are we aware that He will one day raise us to new life if we have become His disciples during this lifetime? It will be enough to call out the names of all those whose names are written in the Book of Life. He, CHRIST, will raise us to eternal life, and GOD will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death” or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’ (Revelation 21:4)
On my knees, I thank Him for these magnificent prospects. The light of eternal life already shines brightly and clearly beyond our graves.
Be blessed!
Muuse
