AI kidney test nears U.S. access
Renalytix signed a multi-year deal to add its FDA-authorized kidneyintelX.dkd blood test to an unnamed national partner's ordering and health record systems. Q1 2027 access is expected, with 25,000 tests targeted that year.
Clinicians could order it in workflows, while patients use 2,000 service centers or 6,000 in-office phlebotomists. The result rates five-year kidney risk as low, moderate or high to guide monitoring or referral.
It is Medicare-reimbursed and only for adults with type 2 diabetes and existing chronic kidney disease. It is a prognostic aid, not screening, diagnosis or an autonomous treatment decision.
The launch and target depend on interface work and training; adoption and patient benefit at scale are unproved. Renalytix's intended £9.5 million gross raise to fund rollout is not complete.
