the good thing about upwork is, if you manage to get jobs now, you have a public track record and reputation anyone can check. not just inside your client's network. which is where mine currently lives. of course, the fees hurt.

Advise you to only submit repos you actually own. Not your employer's, not a client's. The
questionnaire asks if you're authorized and I never saw how they check, so try to be responsible.

Want a pair cause they look good on you? totally fair, go for it. just know you're paying for the frames, not your retinas.

I also trade a limited amount myself, around 500-1k USD a month. When the gap is too high and the buy/sell prices are wide, I come in the middle and give you a better rate. DM me if you want to trade.
