🧠 A simple movement for your neck — using a yoga block
Lie comfortably on your back and place a firm yoga block on the floor near your head. The movement shown in the video involves slowly turning the head from side to side while keeping the rest of the body relaxed.
Why can gentle neck movement be useful?
The cervical spine is designed to move in several directions, and regular movement helps maintain its normal range of motion. When we spend hours sitting at a desk or looking down at a screen, the neck and upper back may remain in relatively fixed positions for long periods.
Slow, controlled movements can help you become more aware of how your neck moves and can be a simple way to introduce movement after prolonged sitting. 🔄
A few important points:
• Move slowly and comfortably
• Don't force the head toward the floor or the block
• Keep the movement within a pain-free range
• Stop if you experience dizziness, sharp pain, numbness or unusual symptoms
The goal isn't to “fix” your neck in a few repetitions.
It's simply to keep a joint that is designed to move… moving. 🦴
