🧍♀️ Relieve Pain and Improve Your Posture
Good posture isn't about holding your body perfectly still all day.
Your spine is designed to move. The goal is not to maintain one “correct” position, but to develop enough strength, mobility and movement control to comfortably change positions throughout the day.
1. Chin Tucks — for the neck
Sit or stand tall and gently draw your chin backward, as if making a small double chin.
Don't look down. Hold for a few seconds, then relax.
This movement gently trains the muscles involved in controlling the position of the head and neck.
2. Wall Angels — for the upper body 🪽
Stand with your back against a wall and slowly move your arms upward and downward while maintaining comfortable contact with the wall.
The exercise challenges shoulder mobility and coordination while encouraging awareness of the upper-back position.
3. Glute Bridges — for the hips and trunk
Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet on the floor.
Press through your feet and lift your hips slowly, then lower them with control.
This strengthens the gluteal muscles and challenges the muscles that help stabilize the pelvis and trunk.
Why posture and pain are more complicated than they seem 🧠
Pain is not produced by posture alone.
Sleep, stress, previous injuries, physical activity, muscle capacity, workload and the sensitivity of the nervous system can all influence how pain is experienced.
That's why there is no single “perfect posture” that prevents pain in everyone.
Instead, think about movement variety.
Change positions. Strengthen the muscles that need strengthening. Improve mobility where it is limited. And gradually increase your body's capacity to handle everyday activities.
For persistent, severe or unexplained pain — especially pain accompanied by weakness, numbness or other neurological symptoms — exercise should not replace proper medical evaluation.
A healthier posture isn't about forcing your body into one position. It's about giving your body more options to move comfortably. 🌿
