White Bellbird (Procnias albus) 🌿🐦
The White Bellbird inhabits the forests of Guyana, Venezuela, and the Brazilian state of Pará. The male is known for its white plumage and a unique, long, fleshy appendage hanging from its beak, resembling a single mustache. Females, on the other hand, are olive-green with yellowish streaks underneath and lack the distinctive mustache.
Fun Fact: Male White Bellbirds are famous for producing the loudest bird call in the world, reaching up to 125 decibels! To put that into perspective, a rock concert is around 84 decibels, a car horn is 110 decibels, and a pneumatic drill is 120 decibels. Only a jet engine (150 decibels) is louder.
Safety Note: The safe sound level for human ears is 85 decibels, so keeping a White Bellbird in a cage is... not recommended! 😅
