Red Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) - a North American bird, also known as the Northern Cardinal. This name is associated with the cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church, known for their distinctive red robes and headgear.

The Red Cardinal is the official state bird of no less than seven eastern states. It has been expanding its range from the southeast for decades and now adorns winter days with its color and whistling song even in southeastern Canada.

People are puzzled every spring when the Red Cardinal attacks its reflection in a window, car mirror, or shiny bumper. Both males and females do this, driven by the need to protect their territory. Birds can spend hours fighting their reflection, not giving up. Later, when the level of aggressive hormones decreases, these attacks should stop (although one female maintained this behavior every day for six months).

Fun Fact: The Red Cardinal's song is quite complex and can include over 10 different sounds! 🎶🐦
