James Paul Wickstrom was an American Christian Identity minister, radio host, and Posse Comitatus organizer, born 7 October 1942 in Munising, Michigan, and died 24 March 2018 in Linwood, Michigan. A former Snap-on salesman, he entered Identity circles in the early 1970s through William Potter Gale’s church in Missouri and later styled himself Posse Comitatus “national director of counterinsurgency,” recruiting Midwestern farmers with anti-tax, anti-federal, and "antisemitic teachings" that jews were satan’s descendants.
He ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Senate in Wisconsin in 1980, appeared on national television after the 1983 Gordon Kahl standoff, and later sold survival goods. He served prison time after a 1984 conviction for impersonating a public official at a Tigerton Dells, Wisconsin, Posse compound and a 1990 conviction for counterfeiting and illegal firearms. In later years he continued Identity broadcasts and meetings in Michigan until his death at 75.
