๐น Pfizer (+0.6%) - opens well and remains a good investment both in the event of further Risk-Off moves and a rotation out of Growth/AI stocks, as well as if the broader market stabilizes. We are keeping our current TP for now (
@: 29.03).โบ The market is already pricing in higher rates for longer, making another bull run in September rather unlikely. Despite the ongoing hostilities in the Middle East and higher oil prices, global markets remain largely stable. Chip and AI infrastructure stocks, however, remain most exposed to further profit taking following their strong August performance. Very high bond yields and concerns about renewed inflation remain headwinds for stocks.
โบ We expect investors to remain cautiously positioned. Weaker-than-expected ADP employment data have reduced expectations for several upcoming rate hikes for now. Fridayโs NFP data, however, will be significantly more important. Very strong results from DELL - currently up around 10% - are also providing support to AI stocks that have recently come under pressure.
โบ The fact that we are not seeing sharply weaker markets despite bond yields at multi-decade highs, higher oil prices, and the outlook for further rate hikes shows that the market is currently not pricing in an upcoming recession.
โบ Oil prices have cooled from their overnight / Asian-session highs.
โบ With some short-term rebound potential, we can go LONG in the Nasdaq for early US trading. DELL is not part of the Nasdaq 100, but should still have a positive impact on AI-related stocks. Investment banks continue to urge investors to buy selected AI chip/infrastructure stocks, including NVDA, ORCL, and TSM.
