โบ We closed our WTI SHORT a bit too early during Asian trading after we still managed to find the perfect (re-)entry range following the price spike triggered by the renewed military strikes between the US and Iran.
โบ The heavy exchange of strikes ended several weeks of relative calm in the Middle East. The conflict is increasingly becoming a confrontation over who sets the terms and ultimately controls the Strait of Hormuz.
โบ We also saw a significant reaction in energy prices, as this was the heaviest wave of strikes from both sides since July. Additional headwinds for hopes of peace came from US President Donald Trump, who said he was not interested in negotiating with Iran. โI like our position now much better, with almost total control of the Strait of Hormuz and their economy completely collapsing,โ Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
โบ There are, however, clear signs that oil continues to move through the Strait of Hormuz. Traffic was significantly lower on Tuesday and Wednesday, but according to US Energy Secretary Chris Wright, who cannot be trusted, more than 17 million barrels of oil were transported by ship through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday. That would be a record since the Iran war began on February 28. I do actually assume that unofficial shipping traffic has increased significantly recently, although it is of course considerably lower today.
โบ We see oil prices well above their session lows. Brent is up more than 1.3% today. We are trading only a small position, but generally see room for further cooling and only limited additional upside. We can enter near the key level of
