— Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi is expected to visit the U.S. this week in his first trip to Washington, seeking American recognition of Somaliland as an independent state, Kan News reports.He is expected to visit Washington, D.C., and New York for meetings with U.S. politicians and members of Congress, with hopes of meeting President Trump as well.
So far, Israel and the UAE are the only ones to have sided with Somaliland, with Israel being the only one to officially recognize it.
