#Hepatitis ❌ #jaundice
One of the misconceptions in the world, unfortunately, even among some members of the medical field, is to tell the patient that you have jaundice and he has hepatitis.
Even when traveling to get a yellow card, they ask you to be tested for jaundice, while they ask you to be tested for hepatitis.
Ok, what is the difference between them?
#Hepatitis
It is a virus that infects the liver, and it has several types A, B, and C depending on the virus that entered.
The two most famous types are B and C, which are the ones that are usually required.
This disease causes death of the liver and thus loss of its function, and the liver carries out more than 80% of the body’s functions, so this leads to death.
We will talk later about each type separately
#Jaundice
It is an increase in the bile substance (bilirubin), which is present in a small percentage in the body resulting from the breakdown of red blood cells after the end of their life span.
It is a disease that usually accompanies another disease. When treated, the other disease disappears automatically, How ⁉️
For example, In the case of malaria, the breakdown of red blood cells increases, so its percentage in the blood increases, and the bilirubin in the tests will be high.
In the second case, the indirect bilirubin will be high, and in this case the patient suffers from a kidney problem.
In the third case, both direct and indirect are high, and in this case there is a liver problem like cirrhosis, hepatitis...ect
I hope the difference will become clear the jaundice is a side effect of hepatitis and other diseases, and it is not hepatitis
