About the Role
Lekki Freeport Terminal (LFT), operator of the container terminal at Lekki Deep Sea Port Nigeria's first true deep-sea port is seeking a Shift Manager to oversee day-to-day terminal operations, including vessel, yard, gate, and CFS (container freight station) operations, spanning both project implementation and operational phases.
Key Responsibilities
* Support project implementation: prepare JDs, training plans, SOPs, and operational processes
* Manage, motivate, and instruct frontline execution teams
* Execute daily container terminal operations per agreed business principles
* Liaise with shipping lines, agents, trucking companies, customs, and port authorities
* Lead operations meetings and resolve operational issues
* Conduct periodic performance reviews with direct reports
* Coordinate manpower and equipment allocation
* Monitor productivity and performance benchmarks
* Safeguard sensitive terminal information
* Oversee cost control measures within approved budgets
* Manage reporting for clients and coordinate with Billing and Finance
* Handle exceptional situations and incident reporting during shifts
Requirements
* Bachelor's Degree (preferably in logistics/operations); Master's Degree preferred
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in container terminal operations in a managerial role
* Greenfield/brownfield project implementation experience is an advantage
* Experience with NAVIS N4 is an advantage
* Deep knowledge of the shipping industry and port business
* Strong people management, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
* Ability to work under pressure with shifting priorities
* Good communication skills in English
* Willingness to work weekends, nights, holidays, and long hours
