GOD'S GLORY REVEALED THROUGH CREATION
Psalm 8: Part 2
“When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained…” Psalm 8:3-4
David looks upward—and begins to think deeply about God. The heavens make him feel small. But instead of concluding that human beings are worthless, David asks an astonishing question: "What is man, that thou art mindful of him?”
The question isn't, “Why are humans so great?”
It is:
Why would such a great God pay attention to us? The Creator of billions of stars cares about human beings.
That is the wonder of Psalm 8.
Creation teaches us two things:
1. God is infinitely greater than us.
2. Yet God has given humanity extraordinary dignity and responsibility.
This should produce humility, not pride.
Key Lesson:
The greatness of creation should make us worship God, not worship ourselves. Isaiah 40:26
Reflection
If the heavens reveal God's greatness, what does your response to creation reveal about your relationship with its Creator?
