THE MAN WHO FULFILLS GOD'S PURPOSE
Psalm 8: Part 7
"You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet," Psa. 8:6 NKJV
Adam
- Created in God's image.
-Given dominion.
- Placed in God's creation.
- Yet Adam disobeyed.
Humanity
- Inherited the consequences of sin.
- The image of God remained, but humanity's relationship with God and its exercise of dominion were profoundly damaged.
Jesus Christ
- The Son of God became truly human.
- He lived without sin.
- He obeyed the Father.
- He suffered and died.
- He rose again.
- He was exalted and crowned with glory and honour.
- And He will ultimately bring all things under His authority. Heb. 2:9, 1 Cor. 15:45–49
This gives us a powerful understanding of Psalm 8. Psalm 8 is not merely telling us that human beings are important. It is showing us God's purpose for humanity—and pointing us toward the Man who perfectly fulfills that purpose: Jesus Christ.
