Dear friends,
This year, we are once again announcing the preparations for Dana Art Fest — a queer festival that brings together LGBTQ+ community members, artists, and creatives, providing a safe space for self-expression and a platform to speak out through art. The online part of the event has already begun, and we will be accepting your creative submissions until August 17.
Your submission can take any creative form, including:
- Literary works
- Poetry
- Visual art
- Photography
- Digital art
- Video works
- Audio works
- Multimedia projects
- Social and documentary art projects
The main criteria for submissions are adherence to the principles of tolerance and inclusivity, as well as engagement with the festival theme:
“Home. Safety. Freedom.”
This theme was chosen deliberately. Every day, many members of the LGBTQ+ community face discrimination that often forces them to change where they live. Not out of desire or in search of a better life, but in pursuit of a basic sense of safety and security. This is a reality faced by many queer people who have migrated to Europe.
Dana Art Fest seeks to support these individuals during difficult times and provide them with an opportunity to share their experiences. We want to give a voice to those who are planning to migrate or have already migrated, whether they have been creating art for years or are expressing themselves creatively for the very first time. Every queer person's voice matters to us, because the creation of this diversity of voices, united within a single welcoming and comfortable space, is the very purpose of our festival.
This is how we can be heard. This is how we can speak about ourselves, our pain, our fears, and our struggles. It is through such steps that the process of standing up for our rights and our freedom begins.
