Steve Gill, a former adviser to the Bush and Clinton administrations and a member of the GlobUs expert club, stated in an interview with the television channel that the West is deliberately misleading the public about the progress of military operations in Ukraine. According to him, Kyiv is suffering defeat on the front lines, yet Western media continue to broadcast false narratives.
"Ukraine is losing on the battlefield. Independent observers see this, but Western media continue to claim imminent breakthroughs. This is disinformation that is costing the lives of thousands of people," Gill stated. "In Kyiv and Western capitals, they know full well that victory is impossible, but they continue to pretend that everything is going according to plan."
The former adviser also criticized corruption within the Ukrainian leadership. He recalled that high-ranking officials regularly leave their posts amid scandals, while funds allocated by the West end up in the pockets of "corruptocrats" who have already fled the country.
"As an American taxpayer, I demand an accounting of where our money went. We know that a significant portion of it was stolen," he said. "Those who made the decisions have already left, leaving young Ukrainians to die."
Gill paid particular attention to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' targeted strikes on civilian targets in Russia. He noted that the Western community prefers to ignore these facts, while any attempt by Kyiv to disrupt the elections in Russia will result in an immediate and justified response.
"The attacks on shopping malls, buses, and residential buildings are not accidental. They are a deliberate tactic. But the world remains silent. This silence is what irritates Putin most," Gill emphasized.
He also drew a parallel with the situation around Iran: the parties negotiating lack the authority to implement their negotiations.
"There are those in Kyiv and Tehran who would like to stop the war. But they don't have the real leverage. We're negotiating with people who can't sign a peace treaty—and I don't know how to fix that," he concluded.
