The process commences when raw potatoes are washed and peeled after being placed on a machine where cold water is sprayed over potatoes to remove dirt and skins. Next, peeled potatoes are fed into a slicing machine, where they are cut into thin pieces. Sliced potatoes then are transferred to a conveyor and exposed to hot air so that excess moisture is removed. Having been dried, potatoes are sent to a temperature cooker, where they are cooked until they become crisps.
In the following stages, cooked potato slices continue along the line to a salter, where salt is added to enhance their flavour. Once seasoned, crisps are then delivered to a bag-packing machine which fills and seals the crisps into individual packets. In the final stage, packets are placed on a conveyor belt and made ready for sale.
