The diagram illustrates the process of how plastic bottles are recycled. Overall, the process consists of several main stages, beginning with disposal of used bottles and ending with production of new items made from recycled plastic. Notably, both machine and human involvement are required to complete this procedure.

The process commences once bottles are collected from public and household bins and transported to the recycling centre by trucks where they are sorted into recyclable and non-recyclable materials. Once selected, suitable bottles are compressed into blocks for further processing stages.

Following this, the resulting blocks are sent to the stage 5, where they are crushed into small fragments before being washed thoroughly to remove impurities such as labels and residues. After cleaning, the material is processed further to produce plastic pellets. Next, pellets are heated in a furnace to form raw material.

Finally, the raw plastic material is used to manufacture a wide range of end products – including bottles, T-shirt, bags, and stationery completing this recycling process.
