EPSU Holds Postgraduates Programs External Curricula Validation Workshop
Ethiopian Public Service University held Postgraduate Programs External Curricula Validation Workshop on August 5, 2026. University faculty, external reviewers, experts, and other key stakeholders participated in the workshop.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Amanuel Kussia , Vice President for Academic Affairs, welcomed the participants and said, "Your presence here today reflects our shared commitment to advancing the quality, relevance, and impact of higher education in Ethiopia. Today's workshop marks an important milestone in our university's journey toward academic excellence. Over the past several weeks, we have witnessed the commitment of our academic staff, experts, and public sector partners in reviewing our existing postgraduate programs. This workshop builds on those collective efforts and reflects our shared commitment to ensuring that every program we offer meets the highest standards of quality, relevance, and excellence."
Dr. Amanuel further explained that the workshop is not simply about validating curricula, but about shaping the future capacity of the nation's public institutions. "Let us carefully examine whether these programs respond to national priorities and emerging global trends, equip graduates with the technical and behavioral competencies required in today's workplace, integrate research, innovation, digital transformation, and practical learning, promote ethical leadership, accountability, and public service values, and maintain the balance between academic rigor and professional relevance," Dr. Amanuel noted.
Finally, he thanked the curriculum development teams, college leaders, and academic staff for devoting their time and intellectual efforts to reviewing these programs. He also expressed his special appreciation to the external reviewers from sister applied science universities for their devotion, expertise, and professional judgment in reviewing the programs.
During the workshop, the Colleges of Urban Development Studies, Finance and Economics, and the School of Law presented their revised curricula, developed by curriculum preparation committees, for evaluation, while the College of Leadership and Governance completed its curriculum validation through a previously scheduled program. Under this initiative, the College of Finance and Economics presented four programs (Accounting and Finance, Public Financial Management, Development Economics, and Tax Policy and Administration); the College of Urban Development Studies presented three programs (Urban Planning and Development, Urban Infrastructure Planning and Development, and Real Property Valuation); the School of Law submitted two programs (Financial Regulation and Law, and International Law); and in its previous program, the College of Leadership and Governance submitted seven master's programs for evaluation (Policy Studies, Diplomacy and International Relations, Public Management, Development Management, Public Service Leadership, Leadership and Management, and Peace and Security).
External reviewers from various sister applied sciences universities and key stakeholders delivered their assessments on the revised curriculum documents distributed in advance, and it was noted that the constructive feedback received will serve as valuable input to further refine the developed postgraduate programs.
