Home Depot is turning AI into an in-store navigation and inventory workflow

Home Depot has expanded Magic Apron from a digital shopping assistant into a store-level guide across more than 2,000 U.S. locations. Shoppers can now use text, voice-to-text, or image queries to find the right item, see where it sits in the aisle map, check local availability, and keep moving inside the same store session.

That matters because the workflow is no longer just product discovery. The assistant now links search, store layout, inventory context, and project guidance at the exact point where an in-store shopper usually loses momentum or asks an associate for help. Home Depot says Magic Apron is already answering millions of questions each month.

The commerce shift is concrete: AI becomes more valuable when it closes the gap between product advice and physical fulfillment inside the same retail trip.
