Rundoo is pushing AI from reporting into ordering and sales operations

Rundoo says its AI assistant, Dooey, started as a reporting tool, but customers are now using it for ordering, email drafting, sales assignments, and other daily operating tasks. The company just raised $30 million and positions the assistant inside the same system layer that handles point of sale, ERP, inventory, commerce, and customer accounts for independent supply retailers.

That is the workflow shift that matters: AI is no longer sitting beside the business as a generic chatbot. It is moving into the operating stack where replenishment, customer follow-up, purchasing, and staff handoffs already happen.

The commerce lesson is practical: AI becomes far more valuable when it can act across inventory, transactions, and outbound communication instead of answering one-off questions.
