Thailand. From September 15, visa-free stay is 30 days again, not 60
The special 60-day regime that was granted to citizens of about 93 countries since July 2024 is being cancelled. The new rules will start from September 15, 2026. Until this date, 60 days are still given at the border.
What's changing:
• Most countries, including Russia, USA, EU, UK, Australia - visa-free stay of 30 days.
• Seychelles and Mauritius - 15 days.
• Visa on Arrival is being limited; countries like Azerbaijan, Belarus, Serbia remain on the list.
• Those already in the country on a 60-day stamp can complete their stay. There is no retroactive effect.
• DTV, LTR, Privilege, work, pension - remain unchanged.
Why: in May, the government decided to close the gap for visa-runners, nominal tourists, and those living in the country for months. The usual package vacation (~9 days) is almost unaffected.
For Russians, the visa-free stay is not being canceled - they are simply returning to the old 30-day limit under a bilateral agreement.
