As cities become increasingly crowded, the question of how people travel has become more important than ever. Although private cars offer convenience and flexibility, I believe that people should use public transport more often, particularly for daily journeys.
The most obvious benefit is that public transport can reduce traffic congestion and air pollution. When dozens of people travel by bus or train instead of driving separately, fewer vehicles are needed on the roads. This not only makes urban areas less polluted but also shortens commuting times. In my view, this is especially important in large cities, where traffic can turn a relatively short journey into a frustrating experience.
That said, private cars still have their advantages. They are often more practical for families, people carrying heavy items, or those living in areas with limited public transport. Personally, I would not argue that cars should be abandoned altogether. Rather, public transport should be made reliable, comfortable and affordable enough to become the natural choice for most everyday journeys.
Overall, I believe a balance is needed. Encouraging public transport while maintaining reasonable access to private cars would make cities cleaner, less congested and more pleasant places to live.
