Coinbase Files With SEC for US Stock Perpetuals

Coinbase has filed two notice registrations with the SEC to offer single-stock perpetual futures in the US, expanding its equity-derivatives push at home.

Perpetuals are derivatives that track an asset without expiring, letting traders hold a position indefinitely. The filings would take Coinbase's US equity lineup from thematic stock indexes to individual single-name stocks.

Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad says the product still needs CFTC approval next. The filings set up a framework but come with no trading start date or contract specs yet.

Coinbase already offers stock perpetuals offshore on names like Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Tesla and Meta, plus SPY and QQQ ETF contracts where permitted.
