The owner of the Kia EV9 charged for a couple of dollars and received a bill for almost $16,000 — the charging station decided that the car had been parked there for 15 months.
In reality, the electric car received only 4.91 kWh of energy — such a charge should have cost less than $3. However, due to a glitch, the session that started in May 2025 was only closed in August 2026.
The station calculated the payment by time — approximately 2 Canadian dollars per hour — and ultimately issued a bill for 22,308 CAD. The owner is already disputing the charges.
