Bondi cover-up proves ASIO bill must be rejected
👉REMINDER:
Tune in TONIGHT (Tuesday) at 8:00 PM EST to participate in the livestream with Martin North talking to Gerard Rennick and Robbie Barwick on the merger into the new Australian Peoples Party. Topics discussed will include the reason for the merger, the party’s policy vision, the differences between the APP and the major parties, and YOUR questions.
Australians should be outraged that the government is protecting ASIO from accountability over the Bondi terrorist attack, at the same time it is legislating an enormous expansion of the security agency’s powers.
With the sinister Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Bill No. 2 scheduled for debate in the Senate this Thursday, 13 August, all concerned Australians should call and email their Senators this week to tell them to reject the bill

Bondi cover-up
The Albanese government has denied a former ASIO agent code-named “Marcus” a visa to appear as a key witness at the Bondi royal commission.
The government’s decision is a blatant cover-up of ASIO’s failure to protect Australians from the Bondi terrorists.
Marcus revealed to ABC Four Corners in February that he had provided information to ASIO about both Bondi shooters, which he had learned by infiltrating the pro-ISIS cell they were part of in Western Sydney.
ASIO initially acted on his information, and assessed Naveed Akram for a few months in 2019, before concluding he was not a problem.
However, Marcus claimed ASIO later ignored his warnings that the father Sajid was radicalised, not just the son.
He also claimed that by 2022 ASIO had prioritised foreign interference as a threat above terrorism, even though foreign interference does not carry anything like the same danger of mass casualty attacks.
With ASIO looking the other way, the Bondi shooters were able to accumulate an arsenal of weapons, train with them, travel at least twice to known terrorist training hotspots (Afghanistan, Southern Philippines), and plan and execute the Bondi massacre.
Before Marcus appeared on Four Corners in February, ASIO pre-emptively attacked him and tried to discredit him; now the Albanese government is blocking him from returning to tell the royal commission in person what he knows, which is presumably more than he told Four Corners (or more than Four Corners was able to broadcast).
What are ASIO and the government trying to hide?
Reject authoritarian powers
The government’s determination to cover up ASIO’s catastrophic failure that led to Bondi, rather than hold the agency to account, should prove to everyone that ASIO should not be given even more, and more authoritarian, powers.
The ASIO Bill No. 2 expands the scope of ASIO’s coercive questioning warrants from being limited to investigating terrorism, espionage and foreign interference, to everything ASIO investigates.
It means that, as a matter of course, ASIO will be able to act as a secret police, grabbing anyone they like, including children as young as 14, for interrogation without the right to silence and without the protection of the courts.
If you don’t answer questions you can be jailed for five years; likewise if you tell anybody you were interrogated.
The calls and emails of everyday Australians who oppose this bill have had a big impact:
Parliament dropped the provision that would have made these powers permanent; and the Senate debate on the bill has been significantly delayed.
Don’t stop!
Keep calling and emailing Senators to demand they reject giving ASIO more secret police powers that are unacceptable in a democracy, and instead hold ASIO to account.
