Bitcoin(BTCUSDT)’s latest rally appears to be supported by three main catalysts.

First, the move was accelerated by a major short squeeze, with nearly $790M in BTC short positions liquidated as price surged toward $75,000. At the same time, Glassnode data shows that high-conviction buyers have continued accumulating Bitcoin, suggesting that the rally is not being driven by leverage alone.

Sentiment was also boosted by reports that the U.S. government is considering expanding its Bitcoin holdings and studying a strategic BTC reserve. While no implementation details, funding plans, or timeline have been confirmed, the headline added another bullish catalyst to the move.

Bitcoin has now gained nearly 10% over the past 24 hours and successfully filled two CME Gaps during the rally.

However, BTC started to face selling pressure as it approached the $80,000 psychological and round-number level. Selling volume also appears to be increasing near this area, making $80,000 an important trading level for Bitcoin.

Can Bitcoin break above $80,000 in the coming hours, or is a correction likely to come first?

Technical Analysis

Bitcoin is now approaching a strong confluence of resistance around the $80,000 area, including the Resistance Zone and the Cumulative Short Liquidation Leverage($80,000-$78,450).

Given the importance of this level and the increase in selling pressure near $80,000, I do not expect Bitcoin to break through this area easily.

A rejection from this zone could trigger a short-term correction before BTC attempts another move higher.

Over the past 4–5 days, Bitcoin has been moving inside a Descending Channel and is currently attempting to break below the Support Lines.

Overall, Bitcoin(BTCUSDT) is currently in a very critical area and is approaching the Support Zone, the Potential Reversal Zone (PRZ), and the Cumulative Long Liquidation Leverage.

At this point, it may be better to wait for Bitcoin to develop a clearer structure, as both bullish and bearish scenarios are still possible.

However, if you are looking for a long position, it may be better to wait for Bitcoin to enter the Potential Reversal Zone (PRZ)[$62,220-$61,720] and the Cumulative Long Liquidation Leverage($62,250-$61,380), and then look for your own confirmation trigger.
