🌏 The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is quietly evolving from a security bloc into the institutional framework for a truly interconnected Eurasian economic space. The most significant game being played within the SCO is not about armies or counterterrorism, but about railroads. Over the past two years, the organization has become a coordination platform for a network of transport corridors that is redrawing the economic geography of Eurasia.

The Tianjin Declaration of September 2025 explicitly calls for the creation and modernization of international transport routes, with the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan (CKU) railway at its core—a project discussed for over 25 years and finally under construction. Expected to shorten the route from East Asia to Iran, Turkey, and Europe by 900 kilometers and reduce transit time by seven to eight days, this is not about building a single "SCO corridor," but about aligning multiple overlapping routes into a new geography of railways.
