You only need 5 clients at S$3,000 a month.
His calls were booked, and nothing was closing.
He was already spending S$20 to S$30 a day on ads, and the calls were landing in his calendar.
Then he said this.
"I think it would take some time to be as natural as you, or as natural as someone who is good at sales."
Then he told me about a competitor who covered everything and took a revenue share on top.
It's the kind of setup that makes you feel like there's nothing left for you to sell.
About two minutes in, I stopped him and gave him a number.
Five clients paying you S$3,000 a month, maybe S$4,000, maybe one of them on a percentage, and you're done.
Then we dug into why nothing was closing.
Every person he'd been getting on the phone with came from a place that was never going to have the budget for this.
He was doing the reps, just on people who could never say yes.
→ Put two questions on your intake form before anybody gets a call slot.
Are you the decision maker?
And how soon can you start: right away, in a week or two, or you'd rather take your time?
The third answer is a polite no.
→ How many clients does your life actually need?
Divide the monthly income you want by what one good client pays you, and stop at that number.
Do both and your calendar gets thinner, but the people left on it can actually buy.
✅ The number you actually need is almost always smaller than the one in your head.
If the answer fits on one hand, that competitor was never your problem.
