Republic of India still follows that I.K. Gujral doctrine regarding foreign policy with nations which are ranked much lower in terms of capability and depend on basic supplies to others.
The key underline of the Gujral Doctrine is "India must extend helping hand to the neighbourhood and beyond which are in distress and depend on India without expecting much in return from them"
This is very suicidal attempt in geopolitical discourse in 2026 when you have a 18 trillion $ rival neighbour with long history of debt trap and shark diplomacy.
India focuses on people-to-people contact and helping those directly , meanwhile chinese will simply pump hard cash into the regime of those countries pocket and dictate everything. The same reason USA loves dictator in third world countries because you don't have to deal with people's mandate anymore. Engage directly with the corrupt regime and get your job done.
In a nutshell, India needs course correction. India just simply can't squander cash , medicine , foods for fun and not reaping benefits from it. THERE SHOULD BE NO FREE LUNCH.
