In the beginning, Lee Heeseung, AKA Evan (@h_evva_n), was a boy growing up just northeast of Seoul, with an older brother and two parents who loved him, a knack for soccer and drawing, and a boundless curiosity about the world.
This, of course, was before he was Heeseung, the main vocalist of fourth-gen K-pop group ENHYPEN, and before he was the member who eventually left the group and sparked no small tumult in the K-pop world this past spring. Certainly before he was Evan, a globe-trotting idol embarking on a solo
career.
But before the fame and frenzy, before the years of training and dreaming of this life he has achieved, Lee Heeseung was just a boy. For our September cover story, we get to know Evan as he is now and Lee Heeseung as he once was

Evan (@h_evva_n) is going to tell you (almost) everything. Six months after the former ENHYPEN member announced his departure from the K-pop group, fans, who previously knew him as Lee Heeseung, are now meeting Evan the solo artist. His next mission, it would seem, is cementing his solo career era and defining success on his own terms. "For me, my success developing myself," he says. "Money and fame and crowds and everything, it doesn't matter."
