🌍 REVOLUT TARGETS SWITZERLAND WITH A CHF 150 MILLION EXPANSION PLAN
🇬🇧➡️🇨🇭 British fintech giant seeks to deepen its presence in Switzerland.
💳 British financial technology company Revolut has applied for a Swiss banking licence and announced plans to invest more than CHF 150 million (approximately US$183 million) to expand its operations in the country.
WHAT WOULD THE LICENCE CHANGE?
If approved, the licence would allow Revolut to broaden its Swiss banking services, potentially including:
▪️ Salary accounts
▪️ Swiss deposit protection
▪️ Local Swiss IBAN account numbers
WHY SWITZERLAND?
Switzerland is an important international financial centre. A local banking licence could help Revolut compete more directly with established Swiss banks and offer services tailored to local customers.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Revolut's application is part of its wider international expansion strategy. The company is pursuing additional banking permissions as it seeks to compete with traditional financial institutions in more markets.
The Swiss application is still subject to regulatory approval, so the proposed services should not be confused with services already available.
