Mohammed Abu Afash, Director of Medical Relief in the Gaza Strip, warned of an unprecedented deterioration in the health system, stressing that more than 350,000 patients across the Strip are in urgent need of medicines and essential medical supplies amid severe shortages and inadequate supplies.
Abu Afash said the limited quantities of medical supplies allowed into Gaza fall far short of the minimum needs of the growing number of patients, particularly those suffering from chronic illnesses.
He warned that failure to urgently facilitate the immediate and sustained entry of medical and humanitarian aid would push Gaza’s already deteriorating health system towards a catastrophic and extremely difficult situation.
