📰 NEWS | Venezuela: Hunt Oil, SLB Strike Deals as BP Joins US’ Handpicked Crude Resellers
Foreign energy companies are expanding their roles in Venezuela as the government courts investment and implements a pro-business overhaul of the hydrocarbons sector.
Hunt Oil signed contracts to operate two mature oilfields in eastern Venezuela, while SLB will provide services and reportedly work to reactivate 15 drilling rigs. Colorado-based Crossover Energy is also reportedly close to finalizing agreements to run Venezuelan oilfields.
At the same time, BP has received a US Treasury license to lift and resell Venezuelan crude, joining Vitol and Trafigura. Export proceeds are deposited into a designated US Treasury account before being rerouted to final customers.
