๐น Marvell (-1.0%) - is initially seeing some profit taking after Fridayโs very strong gains, which we sold. MRVL is currently trading around our TP (
@: 221.11). We considered Fridayโs gains somewhat excessive, but generally see the chip sector starting the week on a mostly positive note, which could also support a rebound in MRVL for now - Wall Street remained closed yesterday. We would be satisfied with a TP closing. If MRVL remains open, we are looking for an exit near/below 221.35.๐น Occidental (+1.7%) - opens significantly higher. We bought the slight profit taking against the market on Friday and expected a strong performance moving forward. We also continue to see significant medium-term upside for OXY. OXY will likely open already above 61.00 and therefore above our TP (
@: 60.97). While OXY has further upside potential, we could initially see some profit taking as oil prices are also cooling slightly after further gains at the start of the week - while tensions in the Middle East remain elevated.If OXY remains open, we tighten our TP:

TP TRIGGERED + GAP ๐ธโบ Ongoing gains in the AI chip sector as well as analyst upgrades for NVDA and INTC are supporting a positive start for the Nasdaq 100. A partnership between Qualcomm and Amazon in data center infrastructure is also driving gains in AI infrastructure stocks - particularly QCOM. We continue to see upside potential in chip stocks overall and still find NVDA attractive. However, we are already seeing strong gains in the Pre-Market and therefore definitely want to wait for some profit taking first. I also see further upside potential in TSLA & SPCX following recent more optimistic signs of demand and growing confidence in Teslaโs hardware for Full Self-Driving (FSD).
โบ Overall, however, we see Wall Street opening somewhat weaker, with defensive and consumer stocks weighing in particular. Higher energy prices as well as concerns about inflation and higher rates for longer remain headwinds. I consider a slight rotation out of currently strong chip stocks into other sectors likely.
โบ We are looking for an entry in the Dow Jones, which is trading around 0.85% lower around the NYSE opening.
