354.50 - 356.50๐น Nasdaq (+0.1%) - is trading near flat after an initially strong pre-market. The NFP data came in above even the highest expectations from any analyst or investment bank - a mega surprise. Hiring was so strong that, at least initially, we are not even seeing a pronounced Good News = Bad News reaction. We close, or have closed, near 29500
if you have not already done so. NVDA in particular (+1.3% pre-market) is keeping the Nasdaq 100 slightly in positive territory, while both the S&P 500 and Dow Jones are in the red. We could initially see further gains - under no circumstances close via SL / out of profit! ALREADY CLOSED ๐น Occidental (-0.7%) - opens lower near 60.20 after oil prices cooled. We expect energy prices to find some support during the second half of US trading or ahead of the weekend but may first see a bit of additional cooling (also for OXY). We are setting a tighter TP
here. OXY remains attractive in the medium term. In the short term, however, swings in oil prices will play a major role.๐ TP
@: 60.97โบ I do not see the chip industry being heavily impacted by slightly higher rates, even given the massive investment requirements - higher rates do, of course, make debt financing more expensive. What matters much more for the chip sector is whether demand remains at the current extreme levels and whether chipmakers can continue scaling capacity without hurting their margins. That is why we could initially see chip stocks outperform, not just NVDA.
โบ The market panic-sold AVGO yesterday - we did exactly the opposite and bought the sharp dip. We could hardly have been more right - a mega trade. We see AVGO opening around 0.5% higher today and remain LONG in the chip sector for now. AVGO staged an impressive rebound yesterday but still closed 2.74% lower after earnings - the second-worst performer of ALL Nasdaq 100 stocks.
โบ We see further upside and are entering here. AVGO is likely to remain volatile in early trading. We initially expect some profit taking and can therefore enter below the opening price. AVGO opens near 360.00 - we enter significantly below that level.
