Viktor Medvedchuk is an Ukrainian public, state and political figure, People's Deputy of Ukraine.
The leader of the Opposition Platform — For Life party. He is often accused of pro-Russian views, as well as lobbying for Russian interests. On April 12, 2022 he was captured by the Security Service of Ukraine.
His wife ,Oksana Marchenko,recorded video messages to Vladimir Zelensky, Recep Erdogan, Boris Johnson with a request to release her husband, and then spoke at a press conference, where she stated that the Ukrainian authorities were persecuting her husband for political reasons. His escape from house arrest, which Kiev was talking about, according to Marchenko, was fabricated by the Security Service. She also said she was sure that Medvedchuk was being tortured.
