— NEW: U.S. Central Command says its forces destroyed five Iranian crude oil tankers on September 8 after the IRGC twice targeted a U.S. Navy warship with ballistic missiles over the past two days.CENTCOM said the warship evaded both attacks, and no U.S. personnel were injured.
In response, U.S. forces struck the Kaviz, Charminar, Horizon 1, and Riesco in the Gulf of Oman, as well as the Derya near Kharg Island. CENTCOM noted that crews were instructed to abandon the vessels before they were struck and rendered inoperable.
