— Niger has officially accused “Macron’s French regime” of being involved in last week’s failed mutiny in Niamey.Niger claimed members of the Special Intelligence Battalion under the Special Operations Command carried out the attack as part of a “vast network of collusion” led by France and intended to undermine Niger’s sovereignty and control over its natural resources.
Mutinous soldiers attacked the presidential palace, Base 101, and state television on August 28–29 before being defeated by loyalist forces, including the Presidential Guard, with support from Russia’s Africa Corps.
Niamey thanked Russia, Algeria, and its Sahel allies for their support during and after the attempted destabilization.
France rejected the accusations, calling them “pure fantasies.”
