— The Pentagon has removed decades of classified Secretary of Defense Orders Book (SDOB) documents from a secret military network following a WaPo report detailing senior commanders’ concerns over the Iran war.The SDOB contains information on U.S. forces, warships, weapons, and deployments, while also allowing senior commanders to formally register disagreements with Pentagon orders through “non-concurrence.”
Several top commanders — including the heads of European, Southern, and Pacific commands and the chief of naval operations — recently warned through the SDOB that prolonged large-scale operations against Iran could undermine U.S. readiness for threats elsewhere.
It remains unclear whether the removed documents are accessible through other classified systems. Former officials warned that restricting access could make military planning and the movement of forces between commands slower and more difficult.
