This is VGS in the 2026 Genesis GV60 Performance AWD ๐ฅ VGS stands for Virtual Gear Shift, and it lets this GV60 emulate an 8-speed transmission. It makes driving this Genesis, and driving an EV in general, so much fun. Itโs the same idea behind N e-Shift in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, and I personally think itโs the best automotive tech of the past few years. The first thing I do when I get in this car is turn VGS on.
The software mapping is so good. It emulates the torque curve so well that itโs almost hard to tell youโre driving an electric vehicle.
I think this is going to make EVs way more fun to drive, especially for us gearheads who love the sound of an engine and banging through gears. No wonder Porsche added this to the new Taycan, and BMW has confirmed it's coming to the electric M3. You really have to experience it. Would you want fake gear shifts in your EV?
