Encountered two guys on a motorcycle harassing a girl tonight, and I still feel uneasy about it.
So I went out to buy something around 9 PM tonight. On my way back, I stopped at a store to buy some Bimo and was eating while walking.
About 15 minutes away from home, near a bank, I passed by a slightly dark area where a girl was sitting. She was wearing regular pajamas. There were two guys on a motorcycle on the road next to her, trying to get her attention and talk to her. She wasn't responding to them and looked annoyed. It seemed like they'd been trying to talk to her for a while.
When I started passing by, the girl got up and began walking a little closer to me. The two guys started moving in the same direction as us on their motorcycle. They seemed to be pretending to leave, but they kept looking at her. I was looking back at them, trying to make them leave.
Then we reached an intersection with four roads. I went straight, the girl turned right, and the two guys went left. At first, I thought that was the end of it, but a little further ahead, they turned around and started following her.
I stopped and looked at them. They backed off a little and stopped, looking at me. Then they came toward me, and one of them asked, "Kayna chi haja?"
Then they asked, "Kat3raf had driya?"
I told them, "La, makan3rfhach."
They were smiling, but I could tell they were trying to intimidate me in that indirect, fake-friendly way. I stood my ground, smiled back, and played it cool. Then one of them said, "Tshab liya wach katjik chi haja?" I replied, "La." They kept talking to me in that fake-friendly way for a little longer, but they were basically trying to mess with me. Eventually, I said, "Layhfdak" and moved on.
I didn't look back afterward, so I don't know where the girl went. I just hope I bought her enough time to get out of their sight.
Honestly, even after I left, I kept thinking about her. There was a real possibility that they would turn around and follow her again once I was gone. I don't know what happened afterward, and that thought genuinely made me feel sad.
I'm not trying to act like some hero here. I was scared too, and I don't even know whether those guys actually intended to do anything to her. But the whole situation felt suspicious, especially when they turned around to follow her and then approached me.
Why are some guys like this? Why keep pushing someone who clearly doesn't want to talk to you? And why try to intimidate people instead of just leaving them alone?
I hope she got home safely.
