Old Irving is on his deathbed
Old Irving is on his deathbed, and the doctors let his wife Mildred know that he hasn’t got much time left. If there’s anything else she’d like to say, now’s the time. Mildred squeezes Irving’s hand, and says “Oh Irving, I love you so much. Do you remember all the years we shared?”
Irving looks out the window a moment, and replies, “Millie, do you remember when the market crashed, and we lost everything?”
“Of course, Irving, I was with you all night sorting through bills, but we made it through!”
Irving nodded slowly, and after a pause said, “Millie, do you remember when our dream home burned down?”
“I could never forget, I was with you in the ambulance, being treated for smoke inhalation, but we rebuilt!”
Irving sighs, and thinks a moment, “Millie, do you remember when I got my diagnosis?”
“Oh Irving I could never forget, I was with you in the examination room, holding your hand just like I am now!”
Irving turns and looks at Mildred, “You know Millie, I’m beginning to think you’re bad luck.”
