📍 Why in News?
🟢 The Union Minister for Rural Development launched Mission Samriddh Gaon at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi.
🟢 The initial pilot phase has been rolled out in two blocks of Madhya Pradesh.
📍 About Mission Samriddh Gaon
🟢 It is an integrated rural transformation and livelihood-saturation framework under the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD).
🟢 It seeks to converge Central and State schemes to provide basic amenities, infrastructure, sustainable livelihoods and social protection to rural households and Gram Panchayats.
🟢 Pilot locations: Budni block (Sehore) and Khategaon block (Dewas), Madhya Pradesh.
🟢 Aim: Build self-reliant, poverty-free and economically vibrant villages while reducing distress-driven rural-to-urban migration.
📍 Key Features
🟢 Family-Level Saturation: Maps household eligibility and prepares family, Gram Panchayat and block-level plans for wider scheme coverage.
🟢 Inter-Departmental Convergence: Brings together agriculture, health, education, skilling, infrastructure and rural-development schemes.
🟢 Integrated Farming Systems (IFS): Promotes diversification through horticulture, fisheries, livestock, poultry and beekeeping.
🟢 Women Farmers’ Empowerment: Builds on the Lakhpati Didi model through advisory, microcredit and enterprise opportunities.
🟢 Rural Infrastructure & Value Addition: Promotes warehouses, cold chains and village-level processing units to reduce post-harvest losses and retain value locally.
📍 Significance
🟢 Promotes villages as self-sustaining hubs of entrepreneurship, employment and value addition.
🟢 Creates local livelihood opportunities and strengthens grassroots economic development.
🟢 Improves access to basic amenities and stable incomes, reducing economic vulnerability and distress migration.
🟢 Supports the broader goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
